Eagles Come Up Empty at UMass Lowell

LOWELL, Mass. -- The Boston College baseball team was shut out by UMass Lowell at Lelacheur Park on Wednesday night, 10-0. The loss was only the second of the season for the Eagles against a New England opponent; both of which were shutouts.
The River Hawks (17-23) posted four runs in the second, beginning with a three-run home run by shortstop Fritz Genther, who would later hit a solo home run to push the lead to 7-0. UMass Lowell also added a three-run home run by third baseman Brandon Fish.
Right-hander Hayden Duke tossed three-scoreless innings in the start for the River Hawks with one hit allowed, three walks and two strikeouts. After being handed a four-run lead through two, he escaped a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the top of the third with a strikeout and a line out. For BC (16-26), freshman RHP Luke Delongchamp (Holden, Mass.) threw two innings in the start, taking the loss while allowing four runs, three earned, on two hits and a walk.
