Eagles hit the halfway mark in spring practice
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College football team held spring practice No. 7 inside Fish Field House on Tuesday morning, hitting the halfway point of its spring season before the Jay McGillis Memorial Spring Game on April 9.
First Track Heard During Team Flex:Â "Welcome to Atlanta" (Jermaine Dupri)
The Red Zone: The Eagles moved to the fringe of the red zone on Tuesday to begin work on converting in scoring areas. Boston College found success on the edge as Phil Jurkovec located Alec Sinkfield out of the backfield to his left and Jaelen Gill on a wide receiver screen to his right to bring BC near the goal line. Led by Emmett Morehead, the second team offense used the middle of the field on a crossing pattern from Dante Reynolds and a contested catch from Hans Lillis.Â
Locked In: Jurkovec and Zay Flowers continued their progression as one of the top quarterback-wide receiver duos in the conference. Jurkovec lofted a pass into the right corner of the end zone for Flowers, who reeled in the ball while getting a foot down near the back pylon. Flowers then adjusted to make a contested catch along the sideline and juked a defender to the inside near the goal line. Flowers closed practice by extending vertically for a first down catch across the middle.Â
DB Depth: Boston College's deep secondary stepped up late in Tuesday's session. CJ Burton and Jalon Williams both forced incompletions with tight 1-on-1 coverage on Flowers at the numbers on the right side of the formation. Elijah Jones had several pass breakups and Steve Lubischer came down with an interception on an overthrown pass.Â
Up Next: The Eagles hold their eighth spring practice on Thursday and host their Pro Day on Friday inside Fish Field House.
