
Trio of Eagles Earn Hockey East Weekly Awards

Alexie Guay was named the Hockey East Defender of the Week, Abigail Levy earned Hockey East Goaltender of the Week and Abby Newhook was tabbed the Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week.
AMESBURY, Mass. – A trio of Boston College women's hockey players have earned Hockey East weekly awards, as announced Monday by the league. Alexie Guay was named the Hockey East Defender of the Week, Abigail Levy earned Hockey East Goaltender of the Week and Abby Newhook was tabbed the Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week.

Guay racked up six points on two goals and four assists in the three-win week for the Eagles. The Magog, Quebec native scored two goals in BC's 3-1 win over No. 3 Northeastern in the Beanpot Tournament semifinal round. Guay then added three primary assists in a road win at UNH on Friday night, and then added a diving assist on an insurance goal in BC's shutout win of Boston University at home on Saturday. The junior blocked five shots, fired seven shots on goal and was a plus-4 on the week and tied her career-high in points by reaching 19 on the year.

Levy went 3-0-0 on the week, stopping 104 of 108 shots she faced for a .963 save percentage and 1.33 goals against average. The Congers, N.Y. native earned her first shutout of the season with a 32-save performance against Boston University on Saturday. In BC's win over Northeastern on Tuesday, Levy made 49 saves, including 24 in the first frame, for her eighth performance this season of at least 40 saves in a contest. Levy's 968 saves on the year leads the nation while her .939 save percentage is tied ninth overall and third overall among goaltenders who have made at least 650 saves.

Newhook earned her sixth rookie of the week honor by way of putting up five points across BC's three wins. The forward scored one goal in each win to push her goal-scoring streak to seven games, and added single assists to go with her goals against Northeastern and UNH for her ninth and 10th multi-point games of the season. Her assist against Northeatern came on the game-winning goal. Newhook currently leads the Eagles in scoring with 29 points on 16 goals and 13 assists.

This is the third time this season that Guay has been named the league's defender of the week and the fourth time in her career. This marks the second consecutive week that Levy has been named the league's best goaltender.
