Abby Newhook Named to Hockey East All-Rookie Team

Abby Newhook has been named to the Hockey East Pro-Ambitions All-Rookie Team, as announced today by the conference office.
AMESBURY, Mass. – Boston College women's hockey forward Abby Newhook has been named to the Hockey East Pro-Ambitions All-Rookie Team, as announced today by the conference office. Newhook was a unanimous selection.
Newhook leads all Hockey East first-year players overall points (32), goals (18) and assists (15) and also in scoring in conference points (25), goals (13) and assists (12). Her 32 points on the year is good for ninth overall in Hockey East and ranks second nationally among all rookies. Among first-year players, Newhook's 103 shots on goal ranks fifth nationally and second in the league while her plus-15 rating is eighth in the country and tops in Hockey East. Newhook's six game-winning goals is tied for second in the nation and leads all first-year players and all Hockey East players. Five of her game-winning goals came in conference play to rank first overall. She is the first Hockey East rookie to record at least six game-winning goals in a season since Boston University's Sarah Lefort scored seven during the 2012-13 season and she is the first BC rookie to score at least four game-winning goals since Andie Anastos did it during the 2013-14 season.
The St. John's, Newfoundland native has 11 multi-point games and two multi-goal games this season. Newhook has put together a nine-game point streak and a four-game point streak during the season. Additionally, she put together an eight-game goal scoring streak (Jan. 21-Feb. 8), the longest Hockey East since Boston University's Sammy Davis during the 2018-19 season.
In addition to six Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week honors, Newhook has earned two Hockey East Rookie of the Month awards this season (November and January).
With Newhook, the program now has 31 Hockey East All-Rookie Team honorees, with 24 of them coming under head coach Katie Crowley. BC has placed at least one Eagle on the All-Rookie Team every year since 2008-09. Newhook is the 20th forward to earn the honor.
