CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College women's hockey goaltender Abigail Levy is one of 12 goaltenders that has been named a semifinalist for the 2022 National Women's Goalie of the Year Award, as announced on Tuesday by the Women's Hockey Commissioners Association.
Levy currently leads the country in saves with 1,114 while also ranking tied for 13th nationally with her .932 save percentage. The Congers, N.Y. native, who sits at 18-13-1 on the year, has made at least 30 saves in 24 of her 32 games played. Among goaltenders who make at least 25 saves per game, Levy's save percentage ranks third in the nation and among goaltenders who make over 30 save per game it ranks second.
Earlier this month, Levy was named the Bertagna Award winner as the Beanpot Tournament's top goaltender after stopping 99 shots over the two tournament games. She has made at least 35 saves in 16 contests and made at least 40 saves in nine contests. Levy has also posted two 50-plus save games this season, making a career-high 55 saves in a 2-1 loss to No. 8 Colgate and stopping 50 shots against No. 6 Harvard in the Beanpot title game. She has one shutout on the year, coming in a 32-save performance against rival Boston University.
Levy also has two assists this season, doing it in a win against Maine on Oct. 23 and in a win against Providence on Jan. 25. To begin the season, Levy became the first goaltender in program history to post six wins in the first six games of the season while also helping mark the first time in program history that the team opened up the year with four consecutive games of allowing one-goal-or-less.
She has earned two Hockey East Goaltender of the Week awards and was the January runner-up for Hockey East Goaltender of the Month.
The conference offices came up with the initial "Watch List" of goalies and then a committee of voters — made up of a cross section of coaches, administrators, and media — narrowed the list down to 12. The three finalists will be announced during conference championships and the winner will be announced during the NCAA Frozen Four at Penn State.
