Eagles only drop two matches all night in decisive win
WEYMOUTH, Mass. -- Back home after a two match road trip last weekend, the Eagles got back on track with a decisive 6-1 victory over cross-town rival Boston University on Saturday night. It started in doubles, with the teams of Laura Lopez and Marice Aguiar, and Hailey Wilcox and Sophia Edwards securing the first point, punctuated by Wilcox's great play to clinch the doubles point.Â
The momentum carried into singles, with Lopez, Aguiar, and Plobrung Plipuech all taking home their matches in straight sets, along with wins from Natasha Irani and Sophia Edwards.Â
"Sometimes one shot or one point can change a match. Hailey's amazing get that helped us win the doubles point really gave us a huge lift tonight," said head coach Nigel Bentley. "We had a really strong week of practice and everyone brought their best energy. I'm excited for the players. We have been working very hard and it's always nice to beat a cross town rival."
The Eagles will head back on the road next week for a match against Syracuse Saturday morning at 11:00.Â
