Flowers Picks Up AP All-America Honor

BC wide receiver a third team selection by the Associated Press.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. –Boston College senior wide receiver Zay Flowers (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) earned Associated Press All-America Third Team as announced by the outlet on Monday afternoon. It marks the first All-America honor of his career.

Flowers is the first BC wide receiver to earn All-America recognition since Gerard Phelan (1984). The honor marks the fifth straight year an Eagle has been named an All-American by the AP.

Flowers broke every major receiving record at BC in his senior season; pushing to the top of the chart in receptions (200), receiving yards (3,056) and receiving touchdowns (29). For the season, he caught 78 passes, which is tied for the most in a single season, and posted the fourth 1,000-yard season by an Eagle with 1,077 yards to go with a record 12 touchdown receptions. During the 2022 season, he was fourth in the nation in receiving touchdowns, 14th in receiving yards and 17th in receiving yards per game.

For the season, Flowers was one of two players in the country with four 100-yard, two-touchdown games. All four came against Power 5 opponents as he was the only player in the country with three or more games of 100 yards and two touchdowns against Power 5 competition. Flowers was also one of three players in the country with four or more receiving touchdowns of 50-plus yards. He was one of two with three or more against Power 5 opponents.

Previously, Flowers was named All-ACC First Team, a Biletnikoff Award semifinalist and picked up regional MVP awards with the Bulger Lowe Award from the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston and the Season Gold Helmet Award from the New England Football Writers.
