Flowers Leads Seven Eagles on All-ACC Team

Three-time All-ACC pick earns second first-team selection.
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Seven members of the Boston College football team earned All-ACC honors, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday, led by first team selection Zay Flowers (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.). It marked the third All-ACC honor for the senior wide receiver and second first-team pick of his career.
Sophomore defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku (Williamstown, N.J.) was voted to the second team. Five players picked up honorable mention recognition, including senior defensive back Josh DeBerry (Grosse Pointe Park, Mich.), graduate linebacker Vinny DePalma (Wayne, N.J.), graduate cornerback Elijah Jones (New York, N.Y.), graduate defensive tackle Chibueze Onwuka (Bowie, Md.) and graduate safety Jaiden Woodbey (Fontana, Calif.).Â
Flowers broke every major receiving record at BC in his senior season; pushing to the top of the chart in receptions (200), receiving yards (3,056) and receiving touchdowns (29). For the season, he caught 78 passes, which is tied for the most in a single season, and posted the fourth 1,000-yard season by an Eagle with 1,077 yards to go with a record 12 touchdown receptions. During the regular season, he was first in the ACC in receiving yards and touchdowns and third in receptions per game at 6.5
Ezeiruaku totaled 61 tackles, including 14.5 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks. His 0.71 sacks per game ranked second in the ACC. Ezeiruaku added three forced fumbles and two pass breakups.
DeBerry, a 2021 second-team pick, and Woodbey each earned their second career All-ACC honor. DeBerry was credited with 50 tackles, four pass breakups, 3.5 TFLs and an interception. Woodbey was second on the team with 79 tackles, adding two TFLs and two PBUs.
DePalma led the Eagles with 87 tackles, ranking 14th in the league with 7.2 tackles per game. He added seven TFLs, one forced fumble and one recovered. Jones was third in the league with 1.4 passes defended per game on 13 PBUs and two interceptions. He added 34 tackles, including 31 solos. Onwuka tallied 41 tackles, six TFLs and a blocked PAT.
