November 26, 2022 | Volleyball
Pittsburgh, PA – Boston College lost to Pittsburgh on Saturday afternoon, the Eagles lost by scores of 11-25, 14-25, and 27-29. The Panthers improve to 27-3 on the season and 17-1 in the ACC while BC finishes their regular season with a 19-13 overall record and a 7-11 conference record.Â
After running away with sets one and two, BC fought their hardest to force a fourth set. And they almost would succeed as set three was back and forth to the very end. The Eagles managed to force deuce at 24-24 and looked like they were going to steal the set when it was 26-25 but #7 ranked Panthers showed why they have been dominant all season long, staying composed and poised to win three straight points to clinch the match at 29-27.Â
For Pitt, Valeria Vasquez Gomez finished with a game-high 11 kills on a .435 hitting percentage and Courtney Buzzerio added 10 kills of her own as well.Â
Senior outside hitter Silvia Ianeselli (Trento, Italy) posted eight kills, three digs and three blocks and Sophomore middle blocker Julia Haggerty (Lafayette, Calif) recorded six kills on a .300 hitting percentage and three blocks.Â
BC Volleyballs regular season is now complete, they finish the season over .500 for just the fifth time in program history and the second time under Head Coach Jason Kennedy. Kennedy now sits at 77 total career wins at BC and trails the all time leader Andrea Leonard by just three. Kennedy who is finishing up his fifth season as BC's coach will have a chance to set the all time record in one less season then Leonard who coached at Boston College for seven seasons.
