
Eagles Compete in First of Two Northeast Fencing Conferences

BC Fencing heads to Brandeis in Waltham to take on BU, MIT, UMass and others
Waltham, Mass – Boston College Fencing took part in the first of two Northeast Fencing Conferences this past weekend hosted on the campus of Brandeis in Waltham. They were one of ten schools participating in the conference. Other schools that were also competing were BU, Brandeis, Brown, MIT, Sacred Heart, Smith, UMass, UNH and Wellesley.Â
BC had seven scheduled rounds, the Women's team won against BU in Round 2, Sacred Heart in Round 3, MIT in Round 4, UMass in Round 5, UNH in Round 6, and Smith in Round 7 and lost to Wellelsey in Round 1. And the Men's team went undefeated, beating BU in Round 2, Sacred Heart in Round 3, MIT in Round 4, UMass in Round 5, and UNH in Round 6.Â
Some highlights on the men's side include Levi Hughes and Sanjeet Brar going 5-1 on the day in varsity bouts. And for the Women's team, Greta Deback going 4-1, Izzy Zielinski going 6-1 , Taylor Cho going 6-2 and Helen Cobert going 5-4 in varsity bouts. Â
