Eagles Earn 1-1 Tie Against #21 Pitt

NEWTON, Mass. – The Boston College women's soccer team earned a 1-1 tie against #21 Pitt on Saturday night at the Newton Campus Soccer Field.

Sam Smith got BC on the board in the 15th minute with her sixth goal of the season. The Eagles held that one-goal edge until the 74th minute when Samiah Phiri scored for the Panthers.

Before the game, the Eagles honored the four seniors on the roster in Samantha Agresti, Michela Agresti, Sam Smith and Sydney Moore.

HOW IT HAPPENED

15' | A ball lobbed in to the box that Sam Agresti touched over to Sam Smith just at the edge of the 18. Smith stepped in to the ball and riffled a right-footed shot inside the left post.
74' | With her back to the goal, Sarah Schupansky sent the ball across the goal mouth where Samiah Phiri was able to touch it across the goal line.

GAME NOTES

Pitts had the 18-6 leads in shots.
Boston College had the 3-1 lead in corner kicks.
Goalkeeper Wiebke Willebrandt finished with five saves for the Eagles.
Smith scored her six goal of the season and 23rd of her career.
Smith led the Eagles with two shots and two shots on goal.
The Eagles are now 11-3-1 in the all-time series with Pitt … the Eagles are 5-0-1 against the Panthers in Newton.
