Eagles Head to UNH for Hockey East Opener on Saturday

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College travels to the Whittemore Center in Durham for its Hockey East opener on Saturday night against New Hampshire at 7 p.m. The game will air live on ESPN+ and WEEI 850 AM. BC and UNH meet again on the Heights next Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. to complete their two-game regular season series.
OPENING NIGHT
• Sixth-ranked Quinnipiac spoiled the first game of the Greg Brown era last Friday night with a 4-0 non-conference victory over Boston College at Kelley Rink
• Quinnipiac netminder Yaniv Perets stopped all 16 shots he faced for the shutout
• The Bobcats struck first just three minutes into the night when Zach Metsa one-timed a clean faceoff win by Skyler Brind'Amour blocker side on the power play
• BC couldn't pull even despite breakaways from Lukas Gustafsson and Cam Burke later in the period and Trevor Kuntar hit the post six minutes into the middle frame
• QU added to its lead at 12:48 on a right point wrist shot from Charles-Alexis Legault that snuck inside the left post through traffic
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
• UNH earned road wins over Clarkson and St. Lawrence in the North Country last weekend to begin the year 2-0-0
• Senior Ryan Black and sophomore Liam Devlin both had three points in the pair of wins
• Freshman Tyler Muszelik and senior David Fessenden each picked up a victory in net
• Rookie Damien Carfagna was named the Hockey East Defender of the Week and Muszelik was named Rookie of the Week
• Last season, the Wildcats finished 14-19-1 overall and 8-15-1 in Hockey East play

• The schools will face off for the 163rd meeting in the all-time series on Saturday
• Boston College leads the all-time series 79-67-16
• The schools are dead even at 4-4-1 in the last nine meetings, and eight of those contests have been decided by a goal or less
