AMESBURY, Mass. – Boston College senior Abigail Levy has been named the Hockey East Goaltender of the Week, as announced Monday by the league.
Levy went 2-0-0 on the week for the Eagles, stopping 74 of 77 shots that she faced for a .961 save percentage and 1.50 goals against average.
The Congers, N.Y. native had a 44-save performance in BC's 3-1 win at UConn on Friday night. Levy made at least 12 stops in every period, including 19 in the middle frame, en route to her 13th win of the season. It was her seventh time this season making at least 40 saves in a contest.
On Tuesday night, Levy helped the Eagles top Providence, 4-2, with a 30-save performance that included 16 stops in the third period. Levy also earned her second assist of the season on BC's first goal of the game.
Levy's 864 saves on the year leads the nation while her .936 save percentage is second among goaltenders who have made at least 600 saves and 13th overall.
This marks her second career Hockey East weekly honor, as she was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week once last year in her first season as an Eagle.
