All Five Eagles Record Wins In Dominant Season Opener

Marice Aguiar and Laura Lopez continued their doubles success on Saturday

In the 2022 spring opener, the Eagles defeated New Jersey Institute of Technology 6-0 in a dominant wire to wire performance to begin the year.

"We are very excited to be competing again. We had a good start to the season today. Everyone contributed," said Eagles' head coach Nigel Bentley. "We have a lot of hard work ahead but hopefully today's matches will give us confidence as we prepare for Brown on Tuesday."

The doubles matches really set the tone for the day. The duo of Laura Lopez and Marice Aguiar, who went a commanding 8-1 in the fall, picked up where they left off with a 6-2 victory. Sophia Edwards and Hailey Wilcox added a 6-2 win of their own, and Natasha Irani and Muskan Mahajan finished off the doubles sweep with a 5-2 victory.

All five competing Eagles logged singles wins as well, with Muskan Mahajan capturing the third-set tiebreak to secure the shutout.
