James Wilkes leads the way for BC, finishing second overall

STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Boston College finished third at the Stony Brook Season Opener on Saturday morning.

The Eagles were led by James Wilkes, who finished second overall. He covered the six-kilometer course in 19:12.50 - six seconds behind the winner Robert Becker from Stony Brook.

Freshman Andrew Healey was the second Boston College finisher, crossing the line in 12th place (19:46.80). David Scherrer finished in 14th place (19:51.10). Adriano Barilla (15th, 19:51.10) and Peter Fox (18th, 20:00.90) rounded out the BC scorers.

"Solid start to the season - we competed well up front," said head coach Matt Kerr. "Jamie Wilkes led the charge fearlessly and we expect more of the team to tap into that attitude. This team is eager to get back to work and we look forward to challenging the best teams in the region."
