About the Eagles...
BC is 11-5 overall and 1-1 in the ACC. The Eagles picked up a 3-1, ACC-opening win over Syracuse (9/22) behind a career-high 21 kills from graduate outside hitter and captain Clare Naughton. She leads the BC attack with 3.66 kills per set; good for sixth best in the league. Naughton has recorded 14 or more kills in nine matches this season. Graduate middle blocker Amaka Chukwujekwu is hitting a team-high .354 with 2.02 kills and 1.00 blocks per set. Her 420 career blocks are the 19th most in the country among active players. Sophomore libero Anna Murphy leads the back line with 3.95 digs per set, which ranks seventh in the ACC.
Countdown to 1,000...
Clare Naughton put down 21 kills against Syracuse (9/22), including 18 in the first three sets, to push her career total to 974. She enters the week with 982 and is seven kills behind former teammate Cat Balido (2016-19) for 10th all-time at BC. Naughton is also aiming to become just the 10th player in program history to reach the 1,000-kill mark. The last to do so was Katty Workman (2012-15), the program's all-time leader at 1,689.
Maki Blocks...
Amaka Chukwujekwu started the season fourth all-time in total blocks at BC and has since moved into second with 420. She trails Kristen Roberts (1992-95) at 451 for the program record. Chukwujekwu entered the season tied for the BC record in block assists at 308 with Krystie Higgins (2009-12) and is now up to 353. Her 65 solo blocks are sixth all-time.
Double-Double Machine...
Clare Naughton recorded four consecutive double-doubles beginning against Northeastern (9/7) and through the Jack Kaiser Classic at St. John's. She has totaled five double-doubles on the season, matching her total from the 2020-21 season, and 13 for her career.
