Eagles Cruise to Two More Top Five Finishes at Tufts

BC Takes Second and Fifth at Hood Trophy Regatta
BOSTON — Boston College sailing claimed two more top-five finishes over the weekend at the Hood Trophy Regatta, capturing second and fifth place out of seventeen competing teams. The Eagles also competed for the Sherman Hoyt Trophy, finishing sixth in a field of seventeen. The women rounded out the weekend's competition in the 24th Mrs. Hurst Bowl, placing tenth of eighteen in the annual women's event honoring the late Mrs. Christina Hurst.
In Medford, Massachusetts for the Hood Trophy, Tufts, the hosts of the event, took home the title with the low score of 56. The Eagles were right behind with a score of 63, led by skipper Robert Hunter and crew Emma Batcher, who logged the best score of any duo at the event with 23 points. Graham Ness and Katelyn McGauley ended with 40 points as the Eagles' leading group of the B-division. Skippers Matthew Budington and Nick Budington joined crew members Nicole Moeder and Isabella Gallo to represent Boston College's second team, who secured a spot in the top-five by a single point over Yale, 120 to 121.
At Dartmouth for the 24th installment of the Mrs. Hurst Bowl, the Eagles' A-Division team of skipper Colleen O'Brien and crew Laura Ferraris logged the third-best total of the event with 55 points. They were joined by the second unit of Elizabeth Shanahan and Sara Schumann as the Eagles easily secured a spot in the top-ten, besting Tufts by twelve points.
In Providence, Rhode Island for the Sherman Hoyt Trophy Regatta, the Eagles just missed a spot in the top-five, finishing four points behind Yale for sixth place. Boston College's top division of skipper Sophia Reineke and crew Elizabeth Redmond placed eighth, while their second unit of Jack DeNatale and Michaela O'Brien secured a third-place finish in their division.
The Eagles are back in the water this weekend for three more events, including the Moody Trophy, the Sister Esther Trophy, and the Women's AC Series Round.
