Eagles Take Second, Fourth in Two Regattas

Women finished fourth in series round of Atlantic Coast Championships
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College sailing competed in two events this past weekend, the series round of the Atlantic Coast championships and the regatta for the Danmark Trophy, securing top-five finishes in both.
At St. Mary's for the Atlantic Coast Championships' showcase regatta, the women finished fourth out of sixteen competing teams, logging 139 points to cruise ahead of M.I.T. (199 points). The Eagles' top division (70 points) was comprised of skipper Sophia Reineke and crew members Michaela O'Brien and Laura Ferraris. The second division (69 points) was led by skipper Colleen O'Brien, with Michaela O'Brien and Laura Ferraris making up the crew. Yale took the victory with 80 points.
In the inter-conference regatta hosted by Coast Guard for the Danmark Trophy, the Eagles finished in second place out of twenty teams, defeating Harvard in a head-to-head tiebreaker to secure their runner-up position. Skipper Jack DeNatale and crew Nicole Moeder were the Eagles' top division team, logging 83 points. Skipper Robert Hunter and crew Emma Batcher made up the second team, finishing with 108 points.
Looking ahead, the Eagles have four events on tap for next weekend, including the Hewitt, Stu Nelson, and Smith Trophy regattas, along with the first series round of the co-ed Atlantic Coast Championships.
