Eagles Place Third For Hewitt Trophy, Race In Two Other Regattas

Eagles Sailed in Co-Ed Atlantic Coast Series Round at Yale
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Boston College sailing competed in three events this past weekend, including the first round of the Co-Ed Atlantic Coast Championship series and the regattas for the Smith and Hewitt trophies.
In the first round of the Co-Ed Atlantic Coast Championship, the Eagles finished in sixth place of eighteen competing teams, with the first team of skipper Jack DeNatale and crew Nicole Moeder and Michaela O'Brien taking third place in their division with 102 points. The second team of skipper Sophia Reineke and crew Laura Ferraris finished with 164 points, finishing in tenth place just a point ahead of Tulane University and two points ahead of Bowdoin.
At Bowdoin for the Hewitt Trophy regatta, the Eagles finished on the podium, taking third place out of fourteen teams. The top division team of skipper Graham Ness and crew Lilly Mathieu finished fifth in their division with 81 points, while the second team of Matthew Budington and Emma Batcher won their division with 46 points, edging out Harvard by one point and logging the second-best score of the entire event.
In the in-conference regatta for the Smith Trophy hosted by MIT, the Eagles placed seventh and ninth out of eighteen teams. Nick Budington and Mikayla Mathieu finished second in the final race to beat out a team from Roger Williams by one point. Sara Schumann and Josie Warfield beat a team from MIT in a head to head tiebreaker to hold onto seventh place.

The Eagles will compete in five events this weekend, including the NEISA Match Race Championship and the Women's Atlantic Coast Series Final.
