Notre Dame Trips Up Eagles

The Fighting Irish converted two penalty kicks in the game.
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Notre Dame Fighting Irish topped the Boston College women's soccer team, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Soccer Stadium.
Notre Dame was awarded a penalty kick in the fifth minute, with Sammi Fisher converting for the Fighting Irish. The Eagles created several opportunities in the second half but Notre Dame converted a second penalty kick in the 65th minute and then scored the game's first goal in the run of play in the 70th minute. The Eagles kept pushing and Linda Boama converted BC's penalty kick opportunity in the 75th minute. Notre Dame scored its fourth goal of the game as time wound down.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- 5' | Sammi Fisher sent a penalty kick attempt on the ground inside the right post.
- 65' | Maddie Mercado placed her penalty kick attempt midway up on the right side of the net.
- 70' | Kaylie Ronan carried the ball down the right side of the field, cutting in to the box. As she went towards the middle, she sent a left-footed shot to the far post.
- 75' | Linda Boama hit a hard penalty kick past an out-stretched Ashley Naylor, sending the low shot inside the right post.
- 90' | Fisher was sprung up the field by Ashley Naylor and she slotted a finish to the far right post.
- Boston College is now 1-14-0 all-time in the series with Notre Dame.
- Linda Boama converted her second penalty kick of the season – and of her career – to reach eight goals on the year … she now has 19 points on eight goals and three assists … Boama's eight goals ties for the team lead with Ella Richards.
- Notre Dame held the 21-8 lead in shots … the teams were even in corners at three each.
- Boama led BC with four shots on the day … Jenna Bike added two.
- Goalkeeper Wiebke Willebrandt finished with two saves.

- The Eagles will now return home for a three-game homestand, beginning with a game against Miami on Saturday, Oct. 2.
