Kristie Mewis, U.S. Soccer Earn Bronze Medal at Tokyo Olympics

The U.S. topped Australia, 4-3.
KASHIMA, Japan - Boston College women's soccer alumna Kristie Mewis and the U.S. Women's National Team topped Australia, 4-3, to earn a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics on Thursday at Kashima Stadium.
This is the first Olympic medal for Mewis, who was on her first Olympic roster. Mewis appeared in two games during the Tokyo Olympics and was available off the bench for the third-place game.
The Hanson, Mass. native now has 26 caps, four goals and three assists for the senior national team.
Mewis was the first Eagle to compete in women's soccer at the Olympics since Laura Georges represented France at the 2012 London Olympics.
Mewis currently plays for the Houston Dash in the National Women's Soccer League. In her time on the Heights, Mewis recorded 116 points in 89 games. The three-time Hermann Trophy semifinalist tallied 39 goals and 38 assists as an Eagle.
