Cayla Barnes, Megan Keller, Kali Flanagan and Alex Carpenter are among the 27 players named to the roster.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Boston College women's hockey team will have four representatives on the U.S. Women's National Team centralization roster in preparation for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games, as announced Friday by USA Hockey.
Cayla Barnes, Alex Carpenter '16, Kali Flanagan '19, and Megan Keller '19 will be a part of the 27-player centralization roster that will train in together as part of a residency program that is anticipated to begin in October in Blaine, Minn.
Barnes, Keller and Flanagan were members of the gold-medal winning squad at the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang while Carpenter was a member of the silver-medal squad at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi.
In August, USA Hockey will announce a roster of 25 players to represent the U.S. at the rescheduled 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship, which is slated for Aug. 20-31 in Canada. Barnes, Keller and Carpenter were named to the original U.S. roster for the tournament that was supposed to take place in May. That trio were also members of the U.S. squad that won a fifth-consecutive gold medal at the most recent edition of the tournament, the 2019 IIHF World Championships in Finland. Carpenter has been a member of all five of those gold-medal winning squads while it was the fourth medal for Keller and Barnes captured her first gold in what was her World Championships debut.
Barnes, a Second Team All-American and Hockey East First Team All-Star selection in 2020-21, finished her third season at BC with 10 points on four goals and six assists while blocking a team-leading 36 shots. The captain scored two game-winning goals for the Eagles and picked up two power play points while finishing with a plus-9 rating. This year, Carpenter has been playing for the KRS Vanke Rays in the WHL while Keller and Flanagan have been skating for the PWHPA.
The final 23-player roster for the 2022 U.S. Olympic Women's Ice Hockey Team is expected to be revealed in very late December or early January.
