Guay, Newhook Invited to Hockey Canada Summer Development Camp

Alexie Guay and Abby Newhook have been invited to upcoming Hockey Canada Development Camps.
CALGARY, Alberta – Two members of the Boston College women's hockey program have been invited to attend upcoming Hockey Canada Development Camps, which will run July 29-Aug. 9 at WinSport's Canada Olympic Park in Calgary.
Junior Alexie Guay is one of 40 players invited to the BFL National Women's Development Team Summer Camp while incoming rookie Abby Newhook has been invited to the BFL National Women's Under-18 Team Summer Development Camp.
Guay will be one of 12 blue liners at the camp, which will see the players split into two teams t take part in practices and intrasquad games. The camp will also feature two scrimmages against Canada's National Women's Team from Aug. 7-9. Newhook is one of 23 NextGen athletes (born in 2003) invited to Calgary to participate in the BFL National Women's Under-18 Team Summer Development Camp. The NextGen athletes will practice and play games against both U18 camp teams.
Guay played in 18 of BC's 20 games as a sophomore, scoring a career-high five goals while adding six assists for 11 points. The Magog, Quebec native, who was named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week once during the season, tied for fifth on the team and tied for sixth overall among Hockey East defenders in scoring and ranked fourth on the team with 22 blocked shots. This marks the third consecutive year that Guay will take part in Hockey Canada's National Women's Development Team camp. She was a two-time member of Canada's Under-18 National Team. The defender was an assistant captain on the gold-medal winning squad at the 2019 IIHF Under-18 World Championships.
Newhook, a native of St. John's, Newfoundland, most recently skated for Tabor Academy and the Bay State Breakers. Newhook, who captained the 2020-21 Tabor squad, was named First Team All-NEPSAC in 2019-20 after recording 44 points on 23 goals and 21 assists in 26 games and was Second Team All-NEPSAC as a sophomore. The forward skated for Team Atlantic at the 2019 National Women's Under-18 Championship and was also invited to last summer's Hockey Canada National Women's Under-18 Team virtual summer camp.
