
Toronto Six Drafts Maegan Beres in NWHL Draft

The BC captain was taken with the third overall pick.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's hockey captain Maegan Beres was drafted by the Toronto Six with the third overall selection in the 2021 NWHL Draft on Tuesday night.
The Vancouver, British Columbia native skated in 133 of 134 of BC's games over her four years, recording 38 points on eight goals and 30 assists and 138 blocked shots. Beres finished the 2020-21 season with 32 blocked shots, good for second on the team, ninth overall in Hockey East, first among Hockey East forwards and fourth overall in the nation among forwards. As a junior, she recorded 13 points on a career-high four goals and nine assists and finished with a career-high 47 blocked shots, good for second on the team, first among Hockey East forwards and tied for ninth overall in the nation among forwardsÂ
A member of Canada's U18 team at the 2017 IIHF Women's Under-18 World Championships, Beres helped lead the team to a silver medal at the event.
Beres brings the Eagles' total of NWHL-drafted players to 14. BC has had two number one overall drafts picks in the NWHL Draft with Katie Burt '18 and Alex Carpenter '16.
