Transfer point guard from Chipola College was a 2020-21 NJCAA All-American
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Head coach Earl Grant announced that Jaeden Zackery has committed to Boston College and will continue his academic and athletic endeavors at Boston College.
Zackery, a 6-2, 210 lb. guard, was a 2020-21 Third Team NJCAA All-American out of Chipola College in Marianna, Fla. He will have four seasons of eligibility remaining, beginning with the upcoming 2021-22 season.
"Jaeden is a big, physical point guard that brings great toughness to our team. He is constantly looking for ways to help his teammates," Grant said. "He is aggressive attacking the basket and has a knack for getting to the free throw line. His ability to make the 3-point shot and free throws gives us another offensive threat. Jaeden has the tools to be a great defender as well. We are extremely excited to have him join our program."
Originally from Salem, Wis., Zackery averaged 12.5 points. 3.8 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game last season, while connecting on better than 52% from the floor, 42% from the perimeter, and 82% from the charity stripe. Chipola's primary playmaker, Zackery posted a 1.83:1 assist/turnover ratio and a 1.20 steal/turnover ratio. He started all 28 games for Chipola at the point guard spot and reached double figures in scoring on 18 occasions. He helped guide the Indians to a 23-5 overall record en route to capturing the Panhandle Conference and FCSAA State Tournament titles. Â
Over the final nine games of the season, Zackery averaged 17.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 2.7 steals per game. Chipola went 8-1 during that span, advancing to the semifinals of the 2021 NJCAA Championship.
