Two standouts honored by the ACC
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Atlantic Coast Conference has announced its 2021 softball all-conference teams. The three all-conference teams, all-freshman team and individual awards were selected by a vote of the league's head coaches.

Boston College had two all-conference selections as junior outfielder Ellie Mataya was named to the All-ACC second team and junior pitcher Susannah Anderson was named to the All-ACC third team.

It marked the first time in both players' careers they earned all-conference accolades.

Mataya finished the season as BC's leading batter. She led the team in batting average (.373), at bats (153), runs (20), hits (57), doubles (9), triples (3), total bases (78), slugging percentage (.510), on-base percentage (.411) and stolen bases (12-for-12).

She finished the regular season ranked sixth in the ACC in hits, eighth in the conference in batting, 11th in doubles and sixth in triples.

Mataya's .373 average tied for eighth in BC single-season history. She tied for ninth in school history in triples in 2021.

Anderson finished the year as BC's ace in the circle. She led the team in ERA (2.72), innings pitched (175.0), wins (9), appearances (30), games started (26), saves (1), complete games (19), shutouts (3) and strikeouts (107).

In the final ACC regular season statistics, Anderson was third in the conference in innings pitched, seventh in strikeouts, third in games started, sixth in appearances, fifth in shutouts and third in complete games.

Anderson's 175.0 innings pitched ranked ninth in BC single-season history and her 19 complete games were tied for sixth in BC single-season history.
