Eagles Drop Senior Day Match to Top-Ranked North Carolina

WEYMOUTH, Mass. – Boston College hosted the No. 1 North Carolina Tar Heels on Sunday morning at the Weymouth Club on Senior Day, falling by a score of 7-0.

Following the match, BC honored its five departing seniors Loren Haukova, Yufei Long, Reagan Posorske, Maria Ross and Kylie Wilcox. Irani and Wilcox were unavailable to play.

UNC remained undefeated at 22-0 (12-0 ACC), while the Eagles moved to 4-9 (2-9 ACC).

North Carolina clinched the doubles point behind the 48th-ranked pair of Makenna Jones and Elizabeth Scotty over Yufei Long and Loren Haukova. Marice Aguiar and Laura Lopez were leading No. 4 Sara Daavettila and Cameron Morra 4-3 in first doubles before the match went unfinished as UNC extended its streak of winning the doubles point every match this season.

All North Carolina players won their singles matches in straight sets, including five Tar Heels who are ranked nationally. Lopez gave No. 21 Makenna Jones a tough match on Court 3, but ultimately fell 7-5, 6-4. Aguiar played a competitive first set against No. 37 Alexa Graham, but dropped it 7-5 before falling 6-2 in the second set on Court 2.

Boston College will face Clemson and Georgia Tech on the road next weekend (postponed from last weekend) in its final two matches before the ACC Championships in Rome, Georgia from April 21-25.
