Eagles Start Spring Slate at Wake Forest on Saturday

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men's soccer game will kick off its six-game spring season with a trip to sixth-ranked Wake Forest on Saturday, March 6. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. start and it will be live on ACCNX, which streams live on the ESPN App.

• BC and Wake Forest first met in 2005, playing to a 1-1 tie in Newton.
• Last year, the Eagles snapped a six-game losing streak in the series with a 2-1 win at a then No. 3 ranked Demon Deacons squad ... Stefan Sigurdarson scored both goals for BC while Christian Garner made five saves for his first career ACC win.

2019 REWIND
• The Boston College men's soccer team finished the 2019 season with an overall mark of 9-6-3 and a record of 2-4-2 in ACC play.
• The Eagles earned the program's 15th-ever NCAA tournament appearance ... BC hosted Yale in the first round, earning a 3-0 win, and then fell at No. 4 Washington, 2-0, in the second round.
• The Eagles opened up the season with a 4-0-0 mark and then went on to record a six-game unbeaten streak later in the season.
• Stefan Sigurdarson led the team in scoring, putting up 20 points on eight goals and four assists ... he had three game-winning goals as a rookie.
• Fellow freshmen Michael Suski and Amos Shapiro-Thompson were second and third in scoring ... Suski had 12 points on four goals and four assists ... Shapiro-Thompson had nine points on four goals and one assist.
• David Longo and Victor Souza both played every single minute of the 2019 season, putting in 1,707 minutes on the pitch.
• Goalkeeper Christian Garner appeared in 12 games ... Garner went 5-3-3 with a 1.12 goals against average, .794 save percentage and four shutouts ... he ranked first in the ACC in saves per game (4.50) and second in saves (54).

THE 2021 CAPTAINS
• The Eagles are led by a quartet of student-athletes this year in Gregorio Barilla, Ian Buehler, Christian Garner and David Longo.
• Garner, a junior, appeared in 12 games with nine starts in 2019 ... the goalkeeper finished the season with 54 saves and a .794 save percentage.
• Buehler, a senior, has played in eight games for the Eagles, including a career-high six last season as a junior.
• Barilla, a two-time All-ACC Academic Honor Roll member, earned his debut as an Eagle last season at Virginia Tech as a sophomore.
• The redshirt-senior Longo made an immediate impact since transferring to the Heights ahead of the 2018 season and has gone on to start all 34 of BC's contests over the last two season.
