Eagles, Rams Set to Meet on Sunday in Newton

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College women's soccer team will return to the Newton Campus Soccer Field on Sunday at 1 p.m. when it hosts Rhode Island. The Eagles will honor Mia Karras, Jenna Bike, Jillian Jennings and Riley Lochhead before the contest.

A WIN OVER RHODE ISLAND WOULD . . .
• Bump BC's overall record to 2-8-0 with a mark of 1-1-0 in spring slate games.
• Give the Eagles a mark of 6-0-1 in the all-time series with Rhode Island.

ABOUT RHODE ISLAND
• The Rams enter Sunday's contest at 0-5-2 after falling at La Salle, 1-0, on Thursday afternoon … Rhode Island did not play in the fall, opening up the season on Feb. 14 with a 2-0 loss at Providence.
• Rhode Island's two ties came in back-to-back games … the Rams played UMass to a 0-0 stalemate on March 11 and then battled Saint Joseph's to a 1-1 tie on March 14.
• Haley Pignatelli has one goal in four games played while Aysha Bentick has one assist in six games played … Rebecca D'Anna has a team-leading six shots and five shots on goal.
• Faith Hutchins and Teresa Morrissey have split time in goal … Hutchins is 0-1-1 with a 0.57 goals against average and .857 save percentage and one shutout while Morrissey is 0-3-1 with a .750 save percentage and 1.79 goals against average.
• Head coach Megan Jessee is in her fourth season as head coach of the Rams.

SERIES HISTORY VS RHODE ISLAND
• Boston College holds a record of 5-0-1 in the all-time series with Rhode Island.
• This marks the first meeting between the two teams in 15 years … the Eagles and Rams last met on Sept. 20, 2006 with BC earning a 4-2 home win.
• The first meeting in the series came on Oct. 19, 1992, with the Eagles topping the Rams, 7-0, on the Heights.

• Current Boston College volunteer assistant coach Michael Galvin spent the 2019 season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Rams … he assisted in team training with a focus on the defensive team tactics while also assisting with off-field duties.
• This is the first of two scheduled meetings between the Eagles and Rams on the spring slate.Â
LAST TIME OUT
• Boston College finally returned to action on Sunday, March 14 with a neutral site match-up against Hofstra in Bethany, Conn.
• After a scoreless first half, the Pride took a 1-0 lead only to see Sam Smith respond off a corner to equalize.
• The teams headed to overtime and after a scoreless first stanza, the Pride found the back of the net for a 2-1 win.

FALL REWIND
• The Eagles played an eight-game ACC schedule in the fall of 2020, going 1-7-0 with a mark of 1-3-0 on the road and 0-4-0 in Newton.
• The schedule saw the Eagles open up with three consecutive roads games and it featured three ranked teams.
• In the final road game of the fall, BC earned a 3-1 road win at Syracuse on Oct. 22.
• Jenna Bike led the Eagles with six points on three goals while Emily Knous and Sam Smith had four points each ... Knous scored two goals while Smith had one goal and two assists.
• Michela Agresti and Samantha Agresti played all 725 minutes of the fall season for BC.
• In goal, Allie Augur started all eight games going 1-7-0 with a 0.673 save percentage, 2.31 goals against average and 37 saves.

2020-21 CAPTAINS
• The Eagles are led by the trio of Jenna Bike, Jillian Jennings and Mia Karras in 2020-21.
• All three players are first-year captains.
• Bike, who missed the 2019 season due to injury, was named to the United Soccer Coaches Association DI All-Region team as a junior ... she enters her final season on the Heights having appeared in 57 contests with 56 starts while notching 10 goals and 10 assists.
• Karras played in all 18 contests for the Eagles in 2019, a career-high, while making 16 starts and logging the third-most minutes among field players with 1,434 ... she recorded one goal and two assists and will enter her senior season with two goals and two assists.
• Jennings enters her senior season having appeared in all 58 games that BC has played over the last three years ... she has logged over 3,500 minutes for the Eagles while also recording eight assists and one goal ... in 2019, she started all 18 contests and recorded three assists ... her older sister Kayla Jennings was a two-year captain for BC.

• The Eagles are a diverse group, having four different countries and nine different states represented on the team roster of 23.
• The most represented state for BC is Massachusetts, which is called home by six players.
• Canada has two players represented while Iceland and Germany each have one representative on the roster ... 20 players are from the United States.
• Four Eagles hail from California and two each from New Jersey and Connecticut while New York, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Colorado and Rhode Island all have one player represented on the roster.
