March 19, 2021 | Lacrosse
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The No. 6 Boston College lacrosse team is set to face Hofstra in a non-conference matchup on Saturday, March 20 at 12 p.m. on Long Island.
SERIES HISTORY
BC is leading, 6-4, dating back to the first meeting in 1992 where Hofstra won, 14-6. The last time these teams played was in 2020, where BC won 20-10. The game was the last of BC's season before the covid cancellations. The Eagles are on a four-game winning streak, which was started with an 8-7 win in 2005. Hofstra's last win came in 2004, 15-9, at BC.
Â
SCOUTING HOFSTRA

Grace Langella (9G, 4A) and Alexa Mattera (6G, 4A) are the only other Pride players with 10 or more points. THE CHARLOTTE NORTH SHOW
Charlotte North has taken over since she's gotten on The Heights and is must-watch TV. She's been a part of two #SCTop10 plays already this season, connecting with goalie Rachel Hall on a 51-yard outlet pass that she took 50 yards herself to score against UAlbany and an incredible behind-the-back goal against USC. Against Virginia, North had a perfect game, shooting 7-7, while also adding two assists and 11 draw controls. North has taken her game to a new level, now taking draws for the Eagles. In five games, she has 37 draw controls and is second in the ACC with 7.4 per game. A native of Dallas, she's leading the ACC with 4.8 goals per game. She was the cover athlete for the March edition of US Lacrosse Magazine.
Â
OFFENSIVE FIREPOWER
BC has one of the most potent offenses in the nation averaging 16.8 goals per game. The 16.8 goals per game is the most in the ACC and third in the nation behind Northwestern (19.8) and Drexel (16.83). BC is also leading the conference with a .532 team shooting percentage, which is also second in the country.
Â
MAKE IT TAKE IT
BC is leading the ACC and is third in the country with 18.2 draw controls per game. They trail only Northwestern (18.6) and Arizona State (18.25). The Eagles are getting 60% of the game's draw controls which leads to more possessions. Leading the way for BC is Charlotte North, who has 7.4 draw controls per game, which is second in the ACC and ninth in the nation.
Â
FRESHMEN ON THE BIG STAGE
Even with a much older college lacrosse landscape because of the extra year of eligibility, BC has some freshmen who have really stepped up early. Belle Smith, the No. 2 incoming recruiting according to Inside Lacrosse, is currently leading the middie's with seven goals and three assists. Against UMass, she recorded an early career-high three goals. Smith has scored in every game to start her career on The Heights. The backbone of BC's defense is held by two freshmen in Hunter Roman and Sydney Scales. Both earned the start against Virginia and have appeared in all five games this year. In limited time, Annabelle Hasselbeck has already begun to make an impact. Coming on mostly in transition situations and running on the second midfield line, Hasselbeck has two goals and one assist this year. Kayla Martello, also running on that second midfield line, had the best game of her young career against Virginia, scoring her first two career goals on her first two shots.
