Jay Heath led four BC players in double figures with 19 points
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Jay Heath scored 19 points and Boston College sank seven of eight free throws in the final 45 seconds to beat Notre Dame 94-90 on Saturday and give interim coach Scott Spinelli a victory in his first game as a college head coach.
DeMarr Langford had 17 points and six rebounds, making a pair of free throws with 12 seconds left after the Fighting Irish cut a 12-point second-half deficit to two, 90-88. He sank two more foul shots with 6 seconds left to ice it.
Makai Ashton-Langford had 18 points and six assists, and Frederick Scott scored 18 points in his first game since injuring his knee in November. Steffon Mitchell added eight rebounds for the Eagles (4-13, 2-9 Atlantic Coast Conference), who won for the first time since Jan. 12 and in its first game since Christian was fired on Feb. 15.
BC led 74-62 with seven minutes left before the Irish scored on three layups to make it a six-point game. They cut it to five points with two minutes left and to four, 86-82, with 48 seconds remaining after BC missed three straight free throws to start the final minute.
But the Eagles converted seven of their next eight to hold on.
BC did not turn the ball over in the first half and did not commit its first turnover until Heath had ball the stripped with 16 minutes left in second. They finished with five turnovers in the game.

- DeMarr Langford Jr. scored a season-high 17 points, while grabbing six rebounds, dishing out two assists, and logging a steal. Â
- The freshman made 7-of-9 from the free throw line - including four straight with under 11 seconds to go to ice the win.
- Makai Ashton-Langford scored a season-best 18 points, connecting on 6-of-11 - including four from beyond the arc. He also had two rebounds and six assists (zero turnovers).
- Frederick Scott - playing in his first game since Nov. 30 after an injury-riddled season - came off the bench to score 18 points and grab four boards in 22 minutes.
- The grad student was 6-of-9 from the floor, drilling 2-of-4 from beyond the arc.
- Steffon Mitchell had nine points to go with a team-high eight boards. The well-rounded senior logged an assist and had two steals.
- James Karnik added five points and seven boards off the bench, while Kamari Williams chipped in with five boards, a rebounds, and a steal.
- Senior walk-ons Sam Holtze and Will Jackowitz earned the start on the afternoon. Holtze drilled a 3-pointer early on to get the Eagles on the board and notched a steal, while Jackowitz pulled down a rebound.
- For the game, BC shot 52.5% (31-59) from the floor, connecting on 9-of-19 3-pointers and 23-of-32 from the charity stripe.
- The Eagles were narrowly out rebounded, 32-31, but held an 8-7 advantage on the offensive glass - translating into 11 second-chance points.
- The Eagles committed five turnovers on the afternoon and dished out 13 assists.
- 46 - Boston College got 46 of its 94 points from the bench.
- A season-high six Eagles reached double-figures in efficiency, led by Makai Ashton-Langford's 23.
- Frederick Scott logged an 18 for EFF, followed by DeMarr Langford (15), Steffon Mitchell (14), Jay Heath (13), and James Karnik (12).

- Boston College travels to Florida next week for a pair of games to close out the regular season. Â
- The Eagles face Florida State on Wednesday night at 9 p.m. on ACC Network, before heading to Miami on Friday for a date with the Hurricanes.Â
