Hockey East Tabs Levy Defensive Player of the Week

Junior Abigail Levy has been named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week, as announced Monday by the league.

WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Boston College junior Abigail Levy has been named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week, as announced Monday by the league.

Levy backstopped the Eagles to a 2-1 overtime win over No. 10 Providence on Friday afternoon at Kelley Rink. The goaltender stopped 30 of the 31 shots she faced, including 13 in the second period. Levy posted a 0.96 goals against average and a .968 save percentage in what was BC's ninth consecutive win.

The Congers, N.Y. native now stands at 5-1-0 on the year with a .962 save percentage, 1.13 goals against average and one shutout. Her save percentage ranks third in the nation while her goals against average sits fourth.

This is the first Hockey East weekly honor for Levy. This is the fourth time an Eagle has been named the league's defensive player of the week this season (Alexie Guay, Jan. 18; Cayla Barnes, Jan. 11; Maddy McArthur, Dec. 7).
