BC wasted no time stretching the lead in the third period, where Soule and Swartz combined for the Eagles' first 13 points en route to a 46-34 advantage midway through the frame.Â
The lead grew to as large as 59-41 later in the quarter before UMass scored the final four points going into the fourth. The duo of Soule and Swartz scored 21 of BC's 26 points in the third, helping the Eagles outscore UMass by 10.Â
The Minutewomen cut the deficit to single digits with 2:56 left in the contest but the Eagles kept the visitors at bay by hitting five free throws, including two in the final 12 seconds by Marnelle Garraud that sealed the triumph.Â
BC did its part protecting the rock with only 15 turnovers (30 on Sunday) and assisted on 16 of 26 field goals.Â
The Eagles return to action on Saturday at 4 p.m. to face New Hampshire at home in Conte Forum.Â
