Eagles Return to Action Tuesday Against Brown on the Heights

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College plays its penultimate game of the first semester on Tuesday night when it hosts the Brown Bears from the ECAC at 7 p.m. on NESN at Kelley Rink. The Eagles will be taking the ice for the first time since a two-game series against Maine on Nov. 18-19.
SETTING THE SCENE
• The schools are meeting for just the third time since 2000 and the fifth in Jerry York's tenure
• The Eagles took four of six points from Maine in a two-game Hockey East series on Nov. 18-19 but had their next two contests (Notre Dame and Harvard) postponed due to COVID-19 protocols
• Brown enters the matchup at 3-7-0 overall and 3-5-0 in the ECAC after shutting out both Harvard (2-0) and Dartmouth (4-0) over the weekend at Meehan Auditorium
SERIES HISTORY
• The schools are squaring off for the 74th all-time meeting in series history
• Boston College leads the all-time series 48-18-7
• The teams first met during the 1932-33 season, a 3-3 tie
• The last meeting between the schools came in the Ledyard Bank Classic at Dartmouth, a 4-1 Eagles victory over the Bears on Jan. 2, 2015
• BC came back to beat Dartmouth 3-2 the following day to win the tournament
• Jerry York is 3-0-1 in four games against Brown during his tenure at Boston College
• Brown's last victory in the series came on Nov. 27, 1978 in Providence
SENIOR CLASS
• Boston College's five-member senior class has combined for 54 points through 14 games
• Marc McLaughlin and Jack McBain have both scored nine goals to lead the team, ranking third in Hockey East and 13th nationally in goals per game
• McLaughlin and McBain have also combined for eight of BC's nine power play goals
• Patrick Giles sits third on the team and 11th in the league in goals per game with six total
• Jack St. Ivany leads all Hockey East defensemen in assists (11) and points (13) while ranking second overall among all skaters with a +11 rating
• Forward Casey Carreau scored his first goal of the year two games ago against Maine
SUPER SENIOR MILESTONES
• Bowling Green graduate transfers Brandon Kruse and Eric Dop both registered milestones on Nov. 12 in the Eagles' 2-1 road win over UConn in Hartford
• Kruse's first of two assists was his 150th career point between the Falcons and Eagles
• Dop collected his 50th NCAA victory at the XL Center with 29 saves
• Dop rounded into form in November, going 3-2-1 with a 2.33 GAA and a .919 SV%
• Bowling Green transfer Justin Wells is three games away from 150 and the next outing for Sam Sternschein (Penn State) will be the 125th of his career
KRUSE CONTROL
• Brandon Kruse was named the runner-up for the Hockey East Player of the Month in November
• The grad transfer posted nine points on a goal and eight assists in six games last month
• Kruse put together a seven-game point streak with a 1-10-11 scoring line in that span
• That included three multi-point efforts, one of which was a three-assist night on Nov. 18
• Kruse is tied for second in Hockey East with 11 assists on the year
SCORING IN BUNCHES
• The Eagles currently rank second in Hockey East and 15th nationally with 3.43 goals per game
• Boston College has five players who rank among the top-25 in Hockey East in points per game
• BC has not been held under two goals all season through 14 games
• The Eagles have five players with at least four goals and 11 with at least two
• 27 of the team's 48 goals this season have been scored by seniors (56%)
POWER UP
• Boston College's power play is clicking at 25% entering the week, which ranks second in Hockey East behind only Providence (30.2%) and 12th nationally

HALL OF FAMER
• Head coach Jerry York will be formally inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame this Thursday in Denver along with Dean Blais, Tony Granato and Jenny Potter
• He was announced as part of the Class of 2020 but the ceremony was postponed due to COVID
• York will become the 10th Eagle and third BC head coach to earn induction into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame, joining two predecessors John "Snooks" Kelley (1974) and Len Ceglarski (1992)
• He is currently two wins away from 650 during his 28-year tenure on the Heights
