Hockey East Tabs Newhook Rookie of the Week

AMESBURY, Mass. – Hockey East announced on Monday that Boston College freshman Abby Newhook has been named the Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week.

The St. John's, Newfoundland native had a five-point week for the Eagles, scoring three goals and assisting on two others.

In BC's 2-1 overtime win over Providence on Saturday night, Newhook opened the scoring in the second period and then potted the game-winning goal 1 minute, 24 seconds into overtime. It was her third game-winning goal of the season and second multi-goal game. The forward also had a one-goal, one-assist performance in BC's tilt at Harvard on Tuesday night as well as an assist in Friday's game at Providence.

Newhook finished the three-game week with nine shots on goal, a plus-4 rating and one blocked shot. She now has a team-leading 11 points on seven goals and four assists along with three game-winning goals. Newhook has four multi-point outings on the year.

This marks the second career weekly honor for Newhook, as she also earned Rookie of the Week honors on Oct. 18.
