No. 2 Virginia Comes to Newton on Thursday Night

BC will host second-ranked Virginia on Thursday night at the Newton Campus Soccer Field
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College women's soccer team will host second-ranked Virginia on Thursday night at the Newton Campus Soccer Field. The match, which is set for a 7 p.m. start, will air live on ACCNX, which streams live on the ESPN App.

A WIN OVER VIRGINIA WOULD . . .
• Move Boston College to 7-5-1 overall on the year and to 1-4-0 in ACC play.

ABOUT VIRGINIA
• Virginia is coming off of a 0-0 tie at North Carolina on Sunday afternoon and enters the match against the Eagles with a mark of 10-1-1 overall and 3-0-1 in ACC play.
• In the first 10 games of the season, the Cavaliers earned three wins against teams ranked in the Top 10.
• Diana Ordonez leads Virginia in scoring with 19 points on nine goals and one assist ... she has four game-winning goals on the year.
• A trio of Cavaliers in Alexa Spaanstra, Lia Godfrey and Haley Hopkins have 10 points each while 11 different players have scored at least one goal for Virginia.

• Boston College has a record of 8-10-2 in the all-time series with Virginia including a mark of 4-4-0 at home.
• The squads first met on Sept. 18, 1982 with the Eagles topping the Cavaliers 1-0 ... BC went on to go unbeaten in the first six meetings with Virginia at 5-0-1.
• The teams met last year in Newton with a No. 10 Virginia squad holding off the Eagles for a 2-1 win ... Emily Knous scored for BC in the game ... it was the 13th game in the 20-game series that was decided by one goal or less.
• The Cavaliers also came to Newton in 2017, earning a 2-1 win over the Eagles ... Jenna Bike put BC up 1-0 in the 51st minute before UVA scored twice over the final 35 minutes for the win.
