Naughton's 13 Kills Aren't Enough to Take Down Canes
CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- The Boston College Eagles were swept by the University of Miami Hurricanes on Sunday afternoon at Knight Sports Complex. The Eagles' record drops to .500, 13-13. The Canes win their fifth straight match and boost their overall record to 19-3.
The Canes won decisively in set one, 25-18. The Eagles fought hard in set two, trailing by as many as six points, but fell just short of completing the comeback, losing 25-23. Set three was all Canes again as they finished off BC 25-14.
Clare Naughton had a match-high 13 kills in addition to her eight digs for the Eagles. Libero Anna Murphy had a match-high of her own with 15 digs. Naughton, Amaka Chukwujekwu, and Julia Haggerty each had a block for BC.
Miami's scoring was led by Angela Grieve's 11 kills. Peyman Yardimici had a match-high seven blocks, and Savannah Vach had a match-high 34 assists.
The Eagles will continue ACC play next weekend visiting Virginia on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. before traveling to face Pittsburgh on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Both matches will be streamed on ACC Network.
