Hokies Hold of Eagles in Blacksburg

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech Hokies scored in the 21st minute and then held off the Boston College women's soccer team for a 1-0 win over the Eagles at Thompson Field on Sunday afternoon.
Despite the Eagles holding the 9-6 lead in shots in the first half, it would be Virginia Tech's Emma Pewloski that found the back of the net first. The hosts then held the Eagles off the board for the final 70 minutes of play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- 21' | Allie George carried the ball down the right flank and sent a ball in, and Emma Pelowski was just able to redirect it past a converging Wiebke Willebrandt and Sarai Costello.
- Virginia Tech had the 15-11 edge in shots … the Hokies held a 9-3 lead in corner kicks.
- The Eagles are now 8-7-3 in the all-time series with Virginia Tech … BC is 4-3-2 on the road against the Hokies … 14 of the 18 meetings in the series have been decided by one goal or less.
- Goalkeeper Wiebke Willebrandt finished with seven saves for the Eagles.
- Jenna Bike played in her 88th career game … the captain is now tied for eighth all-time in program history with Brooke Knowlton.
- Bike, Ella Richards, Samantha Agresti and Abby McNamara tallied two shots each.
- Haley Thomas, Sarai Costello and Michela Agresti went the full 90 minutes for the Eagles.
