Michael Suski scored twice as BC remained unbeaten at home
NEWTON, Mass. – Boston College kept its unbeaten home record intact on Saturday night against Wake Forest in Newton, topping the Demon Deacons 3-2 on Senior Night. The Eagles improved to 6-5-2 (2-3-2 ACC), while Wake Forest dropped to 9-5-1 (3-3-1 ACC) and saw their five-game winning streak come to an end.
The first half was all Eagles. Junior Michael Suski started things off in the 19th minute when he beat Wake Forest keeper Trace Alphin short side with a heavy right-footed drive.
Suski's classmate Stefan Sigurdarson was tripped in the box just before halftime and capitalized on his penalty kick, picking out the bottom left corner to send Alphin the wrong way.
Kyle Holcomb pulled Wake within a goal in the 62nd minute, but Suski answered two and a half minutes later with his second goal of the evening. Suski dribbled to his right along the edge of the Wake Forest box before sending a shot off the left post against the grain.
The Demon Deacons scored on a late penalty kick to make things interesting, but BC held on for the three points.
Wake Forest out-shot Boston College 10-7, but the Eagles capitalized on their chancez. BC keeper Brennan Klein picked up the win, needing to make only one save.
Prior to kickoff, BC honored eight members of its graduating class: Christian Garner, Wil Jacques, Adama Kaba, Kristofer Konradsson, Alex Mieles, Ivan Postolka, Tyshawn Rose and Tyler Stott.
The Eagles are back in action for the regular season finale next Friday at NC State at 7 p.m.
