The global performance technology leader in elite sports has agreed to a multi-year deal with BC that extends across men’s and women’s sports beginning this season
BOSTON, Mass. -- Catapult, the global performance technology leader in elite sports, is proud to grow 'For Boston' by adding a multi-year deal with Boston College that extends across men's and women's sports beginning this season. The iconic institution will now power student-athlete performance with Catapult data, allowing coaches to optimize athlete training, reduce risks of injury, and prolong playtime with data-backed insights from Catapult's wearable and video solutions.Â
ÂSituated in downtown Boston just a few miles from Boston College, Catapult will collaborate closely with coaches and athletes for product feedback and innovations. The partnership also includes the opportunity for Boston College student-athletes to be part of Catapult's annual internship program.Â
Â"Boston is an iconic sports and technology city," said Will Lopes, CEO of Catapult. "I'm thrilled to join forces with such a prestigious university to show how powerful local collaborations between academia and businesses can be and the value they can bring to student-athletes."
ÂThe new deal includes hundreds of Vector wearable devices, the world's smallest GNSS/LPS device, which will provide coaches and athletes sport-specific insights from athlete movements, fed directly to a smartphone or smartwatch. Additionally, the teams will also use Catapult's video solutions to help them analyze practice and game footage for additional optimizations and faster collaborations.Â
Â"I am excited to bring Catapult, and their data and insights, to our men's and women's teams at Boston College," said Pat Kraft, William V. Campbell Director of Athletics at Boston College. "These wearable and video solutions will help our coaches and athletes make objective decisions about student-athlete performance, health and wellness so they can continue to get better over time. The fact that Catapult is a local company that can also extend opportunities to our students makes them the perfect partner for our school."
Â"I'm looking forward to working closely with Pat Kraft and others over the next several years to set a new bar for these types of partnerships in Boston," Lopes continues. "Given our growth ambitions and the talent graduating in the area each semester, we're confident this is the first of many partnerships right in our own backyard."
ÂIn addition to the newly signed BC Eagles, Catapult also provides performance solutions to the Boston Bruins, the New England Patriots and the Red Sox.
