Ty Clemons and Michaela O’Connor named 2025 Food Lion Community MVPs
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Redshirt senior Ty Clemons from the football team and senior Michaela O'Connor from the lacrosse team were recognized as 2025 Food Lion Community MVPs, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced. The Food Lion Community MVP honors student-athletes that demonstrate outstanding skills in coordinating and motivating community-based initiatives to improve our local towns and cities. Forty ACC student-athletes were honored in total.Â
Clemons' commitment to uplifting the youth and strengthening his community has not wavered since the moment he stepped on campus. Through his fraternity, Omega Psi Phi, he helped launch "Pie a Que," a fundraiser supporting local youth sports. He also remains active with The BASE, the Allston/Brighton Food Pantry, Team IMPACT, St. Columbkille's Race to Educate, and Adopt-A-Child. Additionally, Clemons has helped create study spaces for local students. His consistent service has inspired young people while setting a strong example for his teammates.
During the 2024–25 academic year, the Boston College Football program generated more than 3,995 community-service hours and an economic impact of more than $252,000, supporting 32 organizations ranging from youth programs to senior centers. Clemons played a leading role in that team-wide effort through his dedication and hands-on involvement.
Michaela O'Connor's commitment to community engagement sets the standard for her program and the athletics department. As her team's community-service chair, she leads initiatives such as the campuswide Red Bandana 5K, their Team IMPACT partnership, and volunteer efforts with Cradles to Crayons and Morgan's Message. Her leadership earned her a nomination for the Welles Crowther Fellowship.
The Boston College women's lacrosse team reflects this service-driven culture, contributing 2,102 service hours last year, which ranked No. 1 nationally among lacrosse programs, and generating $69,353 in economic impact across 24 organizations.
