
No.12 Boston College Loses in Overtime to No. 4 Louisville

No. 4 Louisville beats No. 12 Boston College 3-2 in overtime
NEWTON, Mass. — No. 12 Boston College fell to No. 4 Louisville, 3-2, in overtime this afternoon.
After a scoreless first quarter, Sarah Johnson found the back of the net in the 23rd minute to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. That held through halftime and into the third, before Sky Caron was able to capitalize off a penalty stroke in the 35th minute, bringing the Eagles to a 2-0 lead.
The Cardinals responded less than two minutes later, making it 2-1. In the fourth quarter, UofL tallied the equalizer in the 49th minute as the Eagles were shorthanded due to a yellow card issued to Fusine Govaert.  In overtime, the Cardinals scored the gamewinner two-and-a-half minutes into the extra frame.
Jonna Kennedy made two saves during the match. Louisville and BC remained even in shots 8-8, but the Eagles had a 7-5 advantage in shots-on-goal. Both teams attempted four penalty corners.
The Cardinals had only allowed 11 goals this season before the match, and the Eagles brought that total to 13. Louisville remains undefeated in ACC play.The loss moves the Eagles to 9-4 overall and 1-3 in ACC play. BC will host No. 11 Saint Joseph's on Sunday, Oct. 17 at noon. The match at the Field Hockey Complex in Newton will air live on ACC Network Extra.
