
McKenzie Meehan Announces Retirement From Professional Soccer

The highest scoring player in Boston College women’s soccer history McKenzie Meehan announced her retirement from professional soccer on Monday.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The highest scoring player in Boston College women's soccer history McKenzie Meehan announced her retirement from professional soccer on Monday.
After being selected with the 34th overall pick by Sky Blue FC in the 2017 National Women's Soccer League Draft, Meehan went on to play four seasons in the NWSL for Sky Blue FC and the NC Courage. The forward was a member of the NC Courage squad that won the 2019 NWSL Championship and finished as the runner-up in the 2019 Women's International Champions Cup.
Meehan finished her BC career as the program's all-time leading scorer with 124 points over 78 career games. Meehan still ranks first overall in program history in points (124), goals (58) and game-winning goals (18). She holds the single-season record for goals, scoring 20 in 23 games during the 2013 seasons. Nine of her goals in 2013 were game-winners, also a single-season program record.
In her final season on the Heights, Meehan earned Third Team All-American honors and her third consecutive All-ACC nod. She twice earned a spot on the All-ACC First Team as well as an All-ACC Second Team nod and an All-ACC Freshman Team nod.
Meehan became a member of the NC Courage in June 2019 when the team acquired her from Sky Blue FC. She made six appearances for North Carolina, scoring one goal. She also made one appearance and scored one goal in the Women's International Champions Cup in 2019 for her first professional goal. In 2020, Meehan played in one match during the NWSL Challenge Cup but was unable to appear in the Fall Series due to injury.
