Three Eagles Named to NWHL Rosters for 2021 Season

Allie Thunstrom, Taylor Wasylk and Kate Leary are set to skate in the sixth season of the NWHL.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Three former Boston College women's hockey players are set to compete in the 2021 National Women's Hockey League season, which will take place Jan. 23-Feb. 5 in Lake Placid, N.Y.
Allie Thunstrom '10 has re-signed with the Minnesota Whitecaps for a third season in the NWHL. In 2019-20, Thunstrom set the NWHL record for goals in a season with 24 and was named the league's Co-MVP. She finished second in scoring with 36 points with 12 assists to go with her 24 goals. In 2020, the three-time Hockey East All-Star also earned the NWHL Foundation Award which is given for service to the game.
Kate Leary '15 will be skating for the Metropolitan Riveters for the second consecutive season. Leary recorded 27 points on 16 goals and 11 assists for the Riveters last season and was named the 2019-20 NWHL Newcomer of the Year. Leary is currently an assistant coach at Saint Anselm College.
Taylor Wasylk '14 has signed on with the Buffalo Beauts for the 2021 NWHL season. Wasylk, who is currently in her third year as the head coach of the Suffolk University women's hockey team, has skated in five games for the Boston Pride over the last two seasons and registered four assists.
The competition in Lake Placid will feature the NWHL's six teams, the Boston Pride, Buffalo Beauts, Connecticut Whale, Metropolitan Riveters, Minnesota Whitecaps, and first-year expansion club the Toronto Six. Each team will each play a five-game round robin tournament, followed by a playoff round that will determine the four advancing teams into the Isobel Cup Semifinals.
Fans will be able to watch every game of the regular season on Twitch, while the Isobel Cup Semifinals and Final will air live exclusively on NBCSN on February 4-5.
