Volleyball Picks Up Nine Signees for 2020
April 23, 2020 | Volleyball
Third-year head coach Jason Kennedy and the Eagles officially announce class of 2024.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College volleyball coach Jason Kennedy officially announced the signing of nine student-athletes to a National Letter of Intent to join the Eagles in 2020.
"This 2020 recruiting class addresses many of our needs and helps us advance the program in a positive direction to better compete with the top half of the ACC," stated Kennedy, who is entering his third season at the helm of the program. "With two liberos, two setters and five attackers, we really have upgraded the competition for playing time at all these positions."
The Eagles went 20-12 last season, including a program-best 11-7 ACC record. BC played in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship at the end of 2019; the first postseason match in program history.
"The thing that I find most impressive in this group is that they are coming in with a mindset to work hard enough to help position Boston College for a chance to earn its' first NCAA tournament berth. They've bought into the vision that Marissa, Kin, and I have set forward with our returners and will join a program with a changed identity over the last couple of seasons. The program is on the upswing and ready to continue on that trajectory in the ACC and on the national stage."
On the back line, BC added liberos Bridget Green (New York, N.Y.) and Anna Murphy (Zionsville, Ind.). The Eagles picked up setters Sophia Lambros (Fullerton, Calif.) and Grace Penn (Manhattan Beach, Calif.).
In the middle, BC signed middle blockers Annie Cornay (Franklin, Tenn.) and Peyton Miynard (Coppell, Texas). On the attack, the Eagles brought in outside hitters Alayna Crabtree (Normal, Ill.), Katrina Jensen (Temecula, Calif.) and Katarina Kaburov (Arlington Heights, Ill.).
