Knight Named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week

WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Spencer Knight was named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week on Monday as the fourth-ranked Eagles head into the playoffs.
Knight made 70 saves in a three-point weekend against New Hampshire, including a career-high 47 stops on Saturday night at the Whittemore Center. He closed the home-and-home series against the Wildcats with a 1.92 goals against average and .946 save percentage.
The rookie enters the Hockey East Tournament riding a personal nine-game unbeaten streak (8-0-1). He currently ranks fifth nationally in winning percentage (.727) with a 23-8-2 record between the pipes.
The Regular Season Champions host No. 8 seed Providence this weekend in the best-of-three Hockey East Quarterfinals on the Heights. The series is a rematch of last year's quarterfinal series, won in three games by the Eagles at Schneider Arena.
Game 1 will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday with Game 2 on Saturday and Game 3 (if necessary) on Sunday both set for 4 p.m. Games 1 and 2 will air live on NESNplus, while Game 3 would be televised on NESN.
