Eagles Run Ends as NC State Prevails, 82-75

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior Emma Guy scored 19 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds but it was not enough as No. 6 Boston College fell to No. 2 NC State, 82-75, in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament on Saturday at Greensboro Coliseum. No. 4 Florida State upset No. 1 Louisville, 62-60, in the first game of the day.
Boston College (20-11) made a deep run in the tournament with a second round win over Clemson on Thursday followed by an upset win over No. 3 Duke on Friday night. With little time to recover for a 2:30 tip on Saturday the Eagles fight never quit.
The Wolfpack pulled away in the second quarter on a 31-6 run that started at the end of the first quarter. NC State made 7-of-13 three-pointers and took a 48-30 lead at halftime. BC was held to just six points in the second quarter.
BC started to apply pressure in the fourth quarter and cut a 22 point deficit to seven points behind four three-pointers from Taylor Ortlepp. BC outscored the Wolfpack, 30-17, in the final quarter.
Along with Guy, Ortlepp finished with 14 points, while senior Georgia Pineau pitched in with 12 points and five boards. Sophomore Makayla Dickens added 10 points, five assists and four boards.
NC State was led by Aislinn Konig with 16 points and Grace Hunter with 16 points and eight boards. Elissa Cunane added 11 points and four rebounds.

- It is the fourth time BC has lost to NC State in the ACC Tournament, second time in the semifinal game.
