Derryck Thornton led three BC players in double figures with 13 points
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Boston College dropped an 80-62 decision at Florida State in the regular season finale. The Eagles head to Greensboro for the 2020 New York Life ACC Tournament as the No. 10 seed and will face No. 7 Notre Dame at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
FSU scored the first six points of the game and led 8-3 four minutes into the game. BC got back within one - 9-8 - on a Jay Heath 3-pointer at the 15:30 mark. The Seminoles tacked on six unanswered, taking a 15-8 lead with 14:06 left in the half.
A Julian Rishwain 3-ball at the 13:53 mark made it 15-11, but FSU scored seven straight in the middle go a 13-3 run, taking an 11-point lead - 22-11 - with 10:59 to go.
Derryck Thornton drilled 3-pointers on successive BC possessions, but another scoreless stretch for the Eagles led to an 11-0 push by FSU, as it led 34-17 with 6:25 to go. The Noles led 42-24 at the break.
In the second half, FSU took its largest lead of the afternoon - 23 points - with 17:59 left, at 49-26. BC started the second half making just 1-of-7 shots from the floor. Neither team shot the ball well from the outside over the final 20 minutes, combining to make seven of 33 attempts from beyond the arc.
