Trio of Eagles Named Hockey East All-Stars

Kelly Browne picked up a third-team honor while Cayla Barnes and Hannah Bilka were voted to the second team.
WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Three Boston College women's hockey players were recognized by Hockey East on Thursday when the conference announced its 2019-20 all-star teams. Cayla Barnes and Hannah Bilka were named Hockey East Second Team All-Stars while Kelly Browne earned a spot on the Hockey East Third Team.

Browne, an All-Rookie Team selection a season ago, was voted to the Third Team after finishing fifth overall in conference scoring this season with 29 points on 12 goals and 17 assists. Her 347 face-off wins in conference play ranked first overall in the league while her 416 total face-off wins during regular season play was good for third in the nation. Browne recorded at least one point in 17-of-27 conference contests, including seven multi-point outings. The sophomore recorded the program's 11th-ever four-goal game in a win over New Hampshire on Nov. 1, making her one of just five players this year to record a hat trick in Hockey East play. She also had a four-assist outing in a win at Holy Cross on Oct. 3 and another four-point game (1-3-4) in a win over Vermont in January for three, four-point outings in conference games. Browne earned one Hockey East Player of the Week nod.

Bilka finished fourth overall in conference scoring with 30 points on 11 goals and 19 assists. Her 19 assists in conference games tied for second most in the league. She added seven power-play points in conference play with four goals and three assists, with her four goals tying for fourth-most in the league. Bilka factored in to five game-winning goals for BC in league games, with her three game-winning goals tying for fifth in the league. She was the only Hockey East rookie to record a hat trick this seaso and one of two to net a short-handed goal. Bilka averaged 4.12 shots on goal per game in league games, fifth-most, while her nine multi-point outings in conference play tied for third overall. Bilka, who was a unanimous selection to the Pro Ambitions All-Rookie Team yesterday, was the lone first-year player to earn a spot on the second or first all-star teams. She was named the AHCA National Rookie of the Month for October and also took home one Hockey East Player of the Week honor, one Rookie of the Week honor and was named the October Rookie of the Month.

Barnes, who was a Third Team All-Star and unanimous All-Rookie selection last season, put up 16 points on two goals and 14 assists in league play to finish tied for sixth among defenders. Her eight power-play assists tied for second overall and for first among blue liners. The sophomore led all of Hockey East with 71 blocks and a 2.73 blocks per game average in conference play. Her 93 total blocks on the year was tops in the league and third overall in the nation. Barnes' 78 shots on goal marked the fourth-most among league blue liners. She assisted on two game-winning goals in league play and had three multi-assist outings in conference games.
With Browne, Barnes and Bilka, the program now has 55 Hockey East All-Star honorees, with 45 of them coming under head coach Katie Crowley. Â Â Â
