Full pads for the Eagles as they return from spring break
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – After a nine-day hiatus due to spring break, the Boston College football team resumed spring drills with practice No. 4 on Tuesday morning inside Fish Field House. Comfortable temperatures allowed for all of the garage doors to be open for the two-hour, full-padded workout in the state-of-the-art indoor facility the Eagles call home.
Â
"Our guys needed some time away, we have worked them really hard," head coach Jeff Hafley said about the team returning to spring practice. "They are refreshed and ready to go and they came back hungry. I wanted to see the same tenacity and the same effort and that's what we got today."
Â
Boston College will hold two additional practices this week; Thursday morning and Saturday afternoon inside Fish Field House.
Â
Practice Notes: Former BC standout offensive lineman and two-time Super Bowl champion Dan Koppen watched practice on Tuesday and spoke to the team following practice. Koppen was a three-time All-Big East offensive lineman at BC before being selected in the fifth round of the 2003 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots, where he won two Super Bowls and was named the team's all-decade team … Yahoo national college football reporter Pete Thamel attended Tuesday's practice as well … the BC offense had a nice day, especially through the air, as Kobay White and Hunter Long were on the receiving end from several terrific throws. White snagged a ball over the middle during team work along with CJ Lewis while Long made one of the best catches of the day with a one-handed grab from Phil Jurkovec during 7-on-7 work … redshirt freshman Jack Conley earned some reps with both the first and second-team offenses at right tackle Tuesday … along with Nate Emer, redshirt freshman Christian Mahogany and sophomore Finn Dirstine, the depth on the offensive line looks to be in good form early in spring. BC returns four starters on the offensive line in All-ACC selections Tyler Vrabel, Zion Johnson, Alec Lindstrom and Ben Petrula … sophomore linebacker Hugh Davis had a nice interception on a tipped ball during team work … senior defensive end Brandon Barlow got to the QB for a sack during 11-on-11 play as well … sophomore cornerback Jason Maitre almost had an interception during 7-on-7 period.
